STANDING ON THE PROMISES

HEALING MEDITATION

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. —Hebrews 10:35-36

The Bible tells us in the book of Hebrews that we are not to cast away our confidence. When you ponder this statement, it immediately reveals that we have a part to play when it comes to cooperating with God for our healing. What does it mean to “cast away your confidence”? In the Greek, to cast away (apoballō) means to throw off (Strong’s, G577). The phrase “cast not away your confidence” means that you’re not to throw away your free and fearless courage, bold assurance, and freedom in speech. This is a strong statement indeed. The enemy wants you to quit. He wants you to “throw in the towel.” Why? Because every promise in the Word of God requires us to speak boldly and confidently in faith to receive it. Simply put, the devil wants us to stop talking. Our tendency is to become silent when things become difficult. We can retreat into a contemplative mode. This is not what God wants us to do. He wants us to lay hold of the promise of healing with bold confidence and assurance. This requires us to speak the promises of God over and over again. We have to declare with our mouths that God’s Word cannot lie. We have to speak healing even when we don’t feel like it. In doing so, we are standing on the promises of God. What is the benefit of not quitting? The Bible says there is a “great recompence of reward.” This phrase means “payment of wages due.” God promises to reward your endurance if you refuse to quit. One of the most important things to possess when it comes to believing God for your healing is patience (i.e., endurance). It is the will of God for you to endure in whatever situation you may find yourself in today. God wants you to keep speaking the Word no matter what! In doing so, you will eventually inherit the promise. Stand on the promises of God, beloved!
